JOE MURPHY & THE WATERSTREET BLUES BAND

The band are a "blues institution" in the city of Halifax and have been for many years. Led by Multi -instrumentalist Joe Murphy, Joe and the band have released a number of fine CD's over the last few years including 2002's "Some Rough Stuff" (with Johnny Sansone). Come to town and check the Saturday afternoon gig at the Moustache.

Joe Murphy Joe MurphyJOE MURPHY has been fronting band for many years. Joe plays Blues harp, slide guitar and accordians and squeeze boxes. He's a vocalist too.
Joe has played with many legendary blues players such as Otis Rush, Johnny Copeland, John Lee Hooker, Pinetop Perkins, and Johnny Sansone, to name a few. .

Locally, Joe has played with just about everybody and when visiting performers come to the maritimes, Joe and sometinmes even some of his band fill in to complete the show.

Water Street Blues Band John Eyman John's been with Joe and the Water Street Blues Band..as long as Joe. John's been that low key, tele player with some of the sweetest licks and a steady style.

Halifax Blues Barry CookeBarry Cooke, has been with Joe almost as long as John. bary fills in for a lot of visiting musicians from Jack Dekeyzer to Roxanne Potvin and most inbetween. As with many maritimes blues musicians, Barry plays in more that one group, so you'll see him with others, playing those keys.

Novas Scotia Blues Fish Fancy Fish has been with Joe almost as long as John. Fish is another of those professional musicians that fills in the band when visiting frnt men need a gig.

Fish doesn't say much, but just keeps that rhythmic bass happening.
